This is a custom made dive watch for Thomas Styron. He asked for a tactical tritium vial illuminated dive watch based on a Seiko. I chose one of those ubiquitous Seiko Automatic Diver's 200m model sold in local market for the project. As is usual of many Seiko sports models, it has crown positioned at 4 o'clock, making it very comfortable to wear despite its massive size.

As can be seen from the photos, a Sandy 590 dial and hands were used for the face. The case was bead-blasted for matte finish and the original boring looking flat mineral crystal was replaced with a thick magnifying bubble crystal. It is the same type used on Ruhla Hybrid No. 3.

Thomas also wanted to keep the date feature but wanted a manually windable hacking automatic movement, which the Seiko lacked. In the end, we happily resorted to using Mr. Chung's favorite Bulova 17 jewel movement that had the date window matching Sandy 590's date window. It hacks and is manually windable. To top it off, the caseback was drilled in order to accomodate a display back so you can view the automatic winding disc rotate within the case!
Careful viewers may have already noticed the presence of fixed strap bars. Yes, these were custom installed prior to having the case bead blasted. The watch takes a 22mm sized one-piece band. I think the matte finish is better than previous models, as it is very finely done. Well, that's about it, folks. Enjoy the photos!
